About the Teacher

I graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, N-6 in May of 1978. My minor was in English. I earned my Master's of Science Degree in Education, N-6 in August of 1981.

The view from my classroom at Assumption of Mary School

In September of 1978, I began teaching ELA to grades 2-6 at Assumption of Mary School in Redford, New York. There were only six teachers on staff, and since I had the strongest music background, I also taught music classes. It was a great place to work, but after teaching there for five years, I decided it was time to move on and began interviewing for a new job.

I was hired at Brushton-Moira Central School in late August of 1983 and immediately went looking for an apartment. Six months later, I married my landlord's son, Michael! Mike and I have two children, Joseph and Andrew. Joseph graduated in June of 2007 and is working as a computer programmer. Andrew is in eleventh grade.

After 23 years of teaching 6th grade ELA, I moved to grade 5 in the fall of 2007. I am currently teaching three groups of Social Studies, one English class, and one Reading class. I am really enjoying the challenges of my new position.

Mike & I at Hurricane Ridge

Mike and I enjoy camping, taking walks, and kayaking together. Mike loves to ski, hike, and ride bicycle, but I'd prefer to work on my computer or read a good book. I am very interested in genealogy and local history and was the Town of Moira Historian from 1995 - 2008. We like to spend our summers traveling, focusing our trips on America's National Parks. The United States is an amazing place, and we hope to see as much of it as possible! One of my favorite places was Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. You could look out over the Cascade Mountain range on one side and then turn 180 degrees and see the San Juan de Fuca Strait on the other. It was awesome!
